a5c7b9f00b As shark-infested storms grow stronger and more complex, the world braces for the inevitable - a global sharknado. This year, the mission gets personal for chainsaw-wielding leader Fin Shepard and his bionic wife, April, when their young son gets trapped in a sharknado and is transported all over the world. With much of America lying in ruins, the rest of the world braces for a global sharknado; Fin and his family must travel around the world to stop them. And thus it is a work of wonder, a film in which sharks are caught up in a tornado whose origin is not entirely clear (And do we care? A mysterious mystical stone isgood a reason for unleashing the aerial selachimorpha mayhemany other), but that nevertheless ensures that the franchise just keeps spinning. Add Fabiothe Pope and the majesterial Dolph Lundgren, and you have a film that pushes right on through to the cinematic other side and writes its own rules. There are naysayers who say nay, but I don't care: All hail Fin! All hail Sharknado! Yes it is another Sharknado movie and this one has it's tongue so far in its cheek that it might never see daylight again.

Arguably the typical ingredients in a SyFy movie, being second-rate actors, third-rate production values and fourth-rate CGI, have found their perfect means of expression in the Sharknado series. If you are going to end up making a film that no-one is likely to take seriously anyway, why not go the whole hog and make itabsurdpossible?

Throw in a slightly larger budget which allows for some interesting cameos and the occasional line of dialogue which is genuinely funny and you have Sharknado 5.

I took absolutely nothing about this film remotely seriously -which I take to be the intended spirit- and I rather enjoyed it.
